Shawn will cover all aspects of building a fanback windsor (as seen in photo) from selecting materials, riving and shaping the bows crests and spindles, carving the seats and assembly. The turnings will be provided for all classes. Shawn will cover painting, tool sharpening, and all other processes involved during the week.
In this class we will make this fan back side chair as pictured.

We will discuss how to choose materials, learn how to rive green wood, drill and ream compound holes, hand carve a pine seat, shape tapered spindles shape and bend a crest. By the end of class we will all have an assembled chair. Painting the chair will be covered so that students can paint their chairs at home. A TBD materials fee will be added.
